Christchurch Harpurhey

Sunday Services

You are very welcome to Christ Church.

We are a family centred; community based local church and we’d love to see you! We have two Sunday services:

Morning Service

Morning church kicks off at 10:30am every Sunday. It’s a great family atmosphere with worship, teaching and many a chat/brew to be had.

Evening Service

Restore starts at 6:30pm every Sunday evening and everyone is welcome! The evening again has a major focus on worship, testimony and teaching. We would absolutely love to see you, so if getting out of bed on a Sunday AM isn’t your thing…get along to our Evening Worship in the evening.

Children’s Church and Youth Church (see What’s On? tab for Group Dates)

How it works:
Everyone starts Church together for the first 10-15 minutes of the service.  Then the service leader will invite the children to go to their various groups.  We ask that all children are collected by 12 noon at the latest, even if the adult service is still going on.  All parents and carers must complete a registration form if it is their child’s first session and we ask you to keep the Kids Team updated of any changes.

Crech: Under 18 months
At the  back of church there is a safe area with toys, which parents and carers are welcome to use during the morning service.  You need to stay with your children but you can still hear and participate in the service if you wish.  You are welcome to breastfeed at Christ Church and there is a breastfeeding room at the front left of the church.  There are also changing facilities here.  If you have any questions just ask the wardens.

Mini Church:  18 months – 4 years
Games, songs, prayer and Bible stories for pre-school kids.  This group meets over in the Parish Hall.  We ask that parents drop off and collect their children each week and remain with them for their first session.

Kid’s Church: Reception – Year 2,  Year 3-Year 6
These two groups follow the Energize material by Urban Saints.  We explore the Bible and real-life topics together in a fun and safe environment, learning how to live for Jesus every day.  Parents can decide whether to drop off and collect their children or allow them to walk to and from church by themselves.

Youth Church: aged 11-18

Jonny Warnes is Christ Church’s Youth Leader. Jonny runs Youth Church along with other Team members.  The youth also meet in the Parish Hall.  The Sunday meetings have a healthy amount of time spent enjoying each other’s company followed by clear, to-the-point study of the Bible and life as a Christian, with activities and breaking into small groups and prayer.  All this is designed to help the young person own their faith and become independent, passionate Christians. The youth also meet twice during the week for more conversation based sessions with questions used to create conversations.  They look at four main topics – MIND (self-worth, academics, etc); SOUL (who is Jesus?, morals, faith, crime, etc); BODY (fitness, eating habits, body image, etc); HEART (relationships, true love, etc.) All these topics are designed to build relationships, and to enable young people to think critically but also to point them to Jesus and allow God’s truth to be spoken into their lives.  The groups also go out to various places to enjoy time together in a social setting.
