Mike and Nicola have now left Christ Church for pastures new and are settling into their new home in Liverpool.
Mike commenced work in mid-August and will be formally collated as Archdeacon of Liverpool on 10th September.
Bishop Paul said “I’m delighted with this choice. Mike will bring wisdom, warmth and a prayerful enthusiasm to Liverpool Archdeaconry and to the whole Diocese. His missional vision, down-to-earth approach and substantial practical experience will enrich us all as we work together by God’s grace to build the bigger church and make the bigger difference. I know he will fit splendidly into our strong team of Archdeacons and I very much look forward to working with him as the future unfolds.”
Rev Mike commented “I’m looking forward to working and living in such vibrant, cosmopolitan, diverse and exciting city. Working alongside many others in the fulfilment of a very strong diocesan vison to a bigger church that makes a bigger difference. I commit myself to the service of the people of Liverpool and the Lord to see ‘His Kingdom come and His will being done’, in each one of our lives.”
The Bishop of Manchester, Bishop David Walker, added “Mike is a very gifted priest, deeply committed to the mission of God in urban areas. He has proved himself able to get alongside and support others and to work for strategic change. He will be greatly missed, but I am delighted that our neighbours and fellow Lancastrians in Liverpool will have the benefit of his many skills.”
